This will be a brief post today as I am in mourning. Don’t worry, someone didn’t die but I have experienced a big loss and I do want to cry. I know there must be some of you who will relate to this experience. If so, please comment. I need some encouragement.
I love how when you write your own blog you can write about anything you want, be as journalismy as you want, or not, or just write about things going kerflooey.
My post for today went kerflooey.
I had almost completed a shiny new post with updates about the ongoing Oregon GM wheat story. (I wrote a summary of what had transpired a few posts ago.) I even made a cute little graphic (left) about the Port of Portland. I have learned that 47% of US wheat and barley are shipped from my home town. It’s the largest wheat and barley export gate in the US, third largest in the world. Who knew? (Read article in Edible Portland.) Luckily the graphic was stored in another file.
I forgot to press “save draft” at about midnight last night as I toddled off to the bathroom. Some how, some way, upon my return my post was reduced to half its former self, with most of the meatier parts that required focused sleuthing already dispersed into the Cyber Black Hole. I looked everywhere for the information while spewing expletives. Knife in the gut, anyone?
Did my cat dance a little rumba upon my laptop in my absence? It’s the best explanation I can offer at this time. I will pull out my Silver Linings Playbook and remind myself that when I do tackle this post again, there will be more information to sift!
So, the interwebs will have to wait a bit longer for my update on the Oregon GM wheat story. I was focusing quite a bit on the Kansas farmer’s lawsuit against Monsanto. My opinions were flowing freely. Man, I was on!
Ugh, recreating a piece of work is never as fun.
